A. Measuring the width: Measure the width of your window recess from wall to wall. Take measurements at three different points just in case your window is not square and write down the smallest measurement. This measurement is called 'Inside Recess' A small deduction for clearance will be taken by us from your supplied measurements to ensure your blind can operate smoothly and fits within the recess.
B. Measuring the drop: Measure the height of your window recess from top to sill. Take measurements at three different points just in case your window is not square and write down the smallest measurement.

How to measure for your made to measure blind
Exact or recess?
You can choose to have your blind made to fit the inside of the recess of your window or it can hang on the outside.
Exact/ sometimes called Blind size This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to hang outside the window recess.
Recess This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to fit inside the window recess. We will make your blind to fit into the recess perfectly. There's no need for you to make any adjustments.
Three simple steps to a recess measurement
Follow these instructions if you want your blind to hang inside the window recess:
1. Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in three places . Note down the shortest measurement - this is the one we'll use.
2. Measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top of the recess to the window sill in three places as shown. Note down the shortest measurement.
Important note: You do NOT need to make any adjustments to the width or length of your blind measurements, we will make all the necessary adjustments for you.
Three simple steps to an exact measurement
Follow these instructions if you want your blind to hang outside the window recess:
1. Measure the exact width of where you'd like your blind to be. Note down the measurement.
2. Measure the exact drop from the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom. Note down the measurement.
Important note for measuring Vertical blinds!
Please note for the drop of a Vertical blind please measure down to your window sill, we will deduct 1cm off the drop for both Exact and Recess measurements to ensure your louvres run smoothly along your sill.
If purchasing replacement slats, you need to provide the measurements in recess or hem to hem. ( Hem to hem is simply were you measure one of your exisitng louvres/slats from the top were the hanger is to the base)
If you are simply ordering chain then count the number of slats x 2 as you will need enough chain for both sides
Important note for measuring Roller blinds!
For Roller blinds, we have to allow for fittings at either end of the blind, as there is no headrail. This means the actual fabric is approximately 2.8cm less for an exact measurement and 3.3cm less for a recess measurement. You don't need to make this adjustment, we do.
Please Note: Measuring windows is an inexact science. Window sizes vary from window to window, widths and heights will often vary from the top to the bottom of a window (and also from left to right) so please take measurements in at least three places. Always use the smallest measurements when buying blinds to ensure your blind will fit within the recess.
